2024 Festival Info
We are an intimate multi-venue, not-for-profit festival run by volunteers, celebrating all things folk. We are nestled in the centre of our community in Saltburn-by-the-sea, North Yorkshire.
Concerts
Our concerts bring a diverse range of nationally celebrated performers and local talent to unique settings in the town. We use heritage venues such as the Saltburn Community Theatre, as well as bigger spaces like the Main Hall at Huntcliff School.
Sessions and singarounds
We have a range of informal and welcoming sessions and singarounds. Depending on the format, singers and musicians can take turns to perform or join in with whatever is going on. There should be something for everyone, whether in the function rooms of local clubs or intimate backrooms of the town’s pubs!
Workshops and Participation
Last year, there were chances to learn about Celtic harp, morris dancing and music hall traditions, see traditional signwriting in progress, sample unaccompanied singing, take part in poetry readings and lots more. Who knows what 2024 will bring!
Festival Hub
Festival Hub in the Community Hall – a lively, welcoming one stop shop for tickets, info and more. Also Festival merch, drinks and snacks, independent makers and traders and space to meet up with friends old and new.
Folk Dance
Showcasing traditional folk and wider dance styles has long been an integral part of the Folk Festival. This year we have even more spectacular dance displays, with dance teams highly visible all around town.
Collaborations
Our Festival is a home for dynamic collaborations to engage new audiences. In 2023, that included Queer Folk, DIY Ceilidh and Folk Club Showcases. In 2024, look out for community choirs, a hub for young musicians to get creative together and much more.
Family Activities
Free outdoor performances for family audiences, workshops for children and young people and concerts to engage all ages.
